What are some of the behaviors, attitudes, and habits that enslave people in our society?

Think mass media/corporate culture and how it indoctrinates the general public/consumerist whores. i.e. Something is advertised, it becomes trendy and everyone must have it (loss of free will from a philosophical perspective, and thus a form of enslavement).
