I'm trying to find the critical points of the function x^3+x^2-x, I've gotten the derivative but I'm having trouble factoring. Any help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your job is to find the zeros of \[y'=3x^2+2x-1\] if it does not factor over the integers, use the quadratic formula to solve \[3x^2+2x-1=0\]

That's what I was afraid of, thanks

OpenStudy (zarkon):

(x+1)(3x-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah that too!

I differentiated wrong. I feel dumb.
