solve y-3/y+1=3/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simply a cross multiplication question. Top times the opposite bottom. this gives us: \[5(y-3)=3(y+1)\] which gives us: \[5y-15=3y+3\] Isolating y we get: \[2y=18\] Then: \[y=9\]
