Why is it important to God that we all have the freedom to follow Him or reject Him?
It is important to him because he created you and this world. He is testing everyone to see whether you follow him or not. He wants to see everyone follow him but he knows not everyone will. You can follow him but that doesn't mean you are going to heaven. You have to first ask Christ to come in your heart and be saved so you will go to heaven. This is where following him comes in play. Once you are a child of God you will follow his commandments and word. But those people do not follow his word then they will go to hell. I can go on and on about this but I will stop here.
Basically, this question would only mean to someone who has established a prior faith. If you pose this question to someone who is an atheist or agnostic by nature, it can be a tricky question. So now that I've got that out, let me just say I'm not either. :) I have faith, and that is what sustains me day in and day out. I couldn't know what God asks of me every time but I do know that it will be to everyone's credit if I do good things everyday of my life. It's somewhat akin to following him because religiosity aside, the way to him is through emulation of good deeds - whether you do it because His Son is the Way, The Truth and The Life or simply because it's the best thing to do for yourself and for other people.
Thanks. :)
