Let's identify the type of question first. This is a max-min question. So first instincts tell me that we should find f'(x) and f''(x). After which, set f'(x) = 0 and solve the equation. Call the roots A and B. Find f(A), f''(A), f(B) and f''(B). If both f''(A) and f''(B) are positive, then f(A) and f(B) are to be compared.

take the derivative, set it equal to zero and solve. say you get f'(q)=0 then check \[f(a),f(0), f(3)\] i.e. evaluate the function and the critical points and at the endpoints. the biggest is the biggest and the smallest is the smallest
