correct; we would be left with: -24=5 , which can never be true. therefore, there is NO solution to be found

:) almost a trick question. It is there to help you realize that math can have a senseless of a sentence as any other language. If i say: apples are pears. that is a nonsense statement just as absurd as the problem you posted
