How did the Harlem Renaissance (1920-1939) make way for the Civil Rights Movement and Dr. King’s speech (1963)?

The Harlem Renaissance was simply a positional focal point for a spirit of resistance to lynching and racism that was dominating the United States during the early half of that century. What it did was provide sense of a larger unity, brought about by the literature and art coming out of harlem - in short it was inspiration for a larger idea. Equality.
