I think you are posting homework here. Nevertheless you should provide us with some more information about what language you want to be helped at.

Using google i found out that the language could be C or PHP.

You scan through the characters and if its ASCII value is between 97 and 122 in decimal, you substract 32 from its decimal ascii value. That way you must not care about any special cases like space or special characters.
