The lengths of the three sides of a triangle are a, b, and c, where a is less than or equal to b and b is less than or equal to c. If a, b, and c are integers and the perimeter of the triangle is 8 what is the greatest possible value of b. How would I go about solving this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

af a is an integer then it must be = 1 for greatest b and b is less than or equal to c. this leaves a length of seven for c + b so the only possibility for greatest b = 3
