A rectangular box has four sides and a bottom, but no top. The volume of the box is 108m^2. Find the dimensions of the box such that the surface area is a minimun

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*m^3 and minimum obviously..

OpenStudy (turingtest):

Voume=v=Lwh=108m^3 surface area=A=Lw+2Lh+2wh don't we have an extra variables here? Do we know the box has a square base or anything?

I typed the question word for word.. It's under max and minimum question. But i swear it's a la grange question

OpenStudy (turingtest):

you mean la grange multiplyers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (turingtest):

Oh hell, I hate those and have totally forgotten them. All I can do is give you a link, sorry... http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/CalcIII/LagrangeMultipliers.aspx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh.. I'm pretty good at most of la grange questions.. I just can't figure this one out lol

OpenStudy (turingtest):

Then you're better than me. I'm not so good at any of them. Good luck on finding someone who gets it.
