A Pendulum Swings 18 times in 20 seconds. How many times would it swig in 2 minutes? (I know that 2 min =120 seconds. so, what would I do... 120 divided by 8? that would get me a decimal #)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(120/20) * 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeaaa, I meant 18.

OpenStudy (alfie):

Just set up something like this: 18times : 20seconds = x times : 120 seconds Now: (18times*120seconds)/20seconds . Seconds and seconds cancel out and you get = 108

OpenStudy (alfie):

108 times that's it.

18 swings is to 20 seconds as x swings is to 120 seconds\[\frac{18}{20}=\frac{x}{120}\]solve by cross-multiplication
