A cart loaded with bricks has a total mass of 11.3 kg and is pulled at constant speed by a rope. The rope is inclined at 31.3 deg above the horizontal and the cart moves 21.2 m on a horizontal floor. The coefficient of kinetic friction between ground and cart is 0.3 . The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s2 How much work is done on the cart by the rope? Answer in units of kJ Im having trouble summing the horizontal forces. Any advice is extremely helpful.
you need to calculate your vertical and horizontal components. The vertical component will be force applied upwards and horrizontal compnent will be force applied horrizontally in the direction of movement, your friction will be force opposite to your horizontal force
Because there is a vertical component to the ropes force, the normal force is altered. I keep getting lost in the calculations - I need a bit of advice on how to algebraically alter the equations so I can determine the force associated with the rope.
