how the birds came to know that earthworm is might be here??????

I know that owls find prey sometimes by ear - but for example, in the case of a robin, it hunts by sight. After rain falls it is usually easy to find worms by their squirming under the topsoil. So Robins tap their feet on the topsoil to encourage the worms to move. If there is movement, the Robin will pick around with it's beak until it finds the worm.
