whats the GCF for the following trinomial: 4x2y2 - 6xy2 + 12xy3. ..... please show or tell how u got the answer so i can do other ones

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

2xy

how did u find that ?

guess is it pointless to point out that the "trinomial" doesn't have a greatest common factor. the terms have a greatest common factor. you find it because each coefficient has a greatest common factor of 2, and each term includes and x and a y^2, so in fact it is \[2xy^2\]

thank you
