What makes a stock move up and down?

OpenStudy (gw2011):

Stocks will move up or down in price depending upon how many stocks are sold in the market. When many stocks are being sold, then the supply goes up and the price drops because the demand (buyers) for stocks are insufficient to compensate for the selling, that is, the economic law of supply and demand applies. Generally, the stock market reacts to the type of news (good or bad) received.
