1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the denominators should be the same when you are doing adding. 1/2+1/3+1/4=1*3*2/2*3*2+1*4/3*4+1*3/4*3=(6+4+3)/12=13/12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[= (6/12) + (4/12) + (3/12) = (6+4+3)/12 = 13/12\] or you could just realize that (1/2 + 1/4 + 1/4) = 1, and that 1/3 is 1/12 more than 1/4. ;) which would make the answer (1 + 1/12)
