When reading a novel, what most do you depend on for an overall good book? Emotional characters, colorful backgrounds, an extensive vocabulary, or something else?

i would depend on the story line and the plot, and that can tell you whether or not the book is exciting, boring, etc.

it should push me hard to turn every page..if its nt interestin,i wont read it
