"I follow Sorkin to another room. He points to a heap of black molts from his tarantula (they would make terrific earmuffs), then lifts the lid off a plastic tray. There it is, ready to pounce, a furry ball of malevolence. Sorkin shows me a jar of preserved insects saved at the 100th anniversary dinner of the New York Entomological Society. There is a cerambycid larva as big as a parsnip, giant meal worms and a black thing the size of a small hamburger."
