The normans invaded england in 1066, WHat two other groups invaded england and when?
well britain got invaded a lot of times. the oldest known population there were the celts, that later called britons. then in the first century the romans invaded great britain up to the border of scotland where they built the hadrians wall against the pictons (how the old scotts were called) in the 4th century, romes power decreased and they move out of great britain in order to defend rome. so the angles and the saxons (from nothern gemany) came and invaded then. the britons were driven back to wales, cornwall and ireland. after the anglo-saxons came. in the 8th and 9th century lots of smaller invasions occured by the "normans" (north men) which were vikings from norway and denmark. first they came to burn down monasteries to steel their gold and silver. later they came to settle. many english towns were founded in those days eg york (eofervik). but the invasion was always only partially and not covering whole britain since the anglosaxon kingdom wessex (west saxon) were successful in defending their country. but then in 1066 the final invasion occured. the vikings that had settled in north france (called after them: normandie) invaded great britain and defeated it. so all together the groups you are searching for, are most likely the romans and the anglosaxons, since those invasions were the major ones. for the exact dates as far as they are delivered you might look on wikipedia, i don't have them in my mind
