If two protons are added to iron, what is its new atomic number? explain why please I don't understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its original atomic number 26, so if two protons are added, so I', guessing it'd be 28?

Wouldn't that mean it is no longer iron though? by changing its atomic number it'd be a different element, unless i'm completely off lol. I know atoms can have different ions like you can have Carbon 12 and Carbon 14 butI thought if you added protons it'd be a charged ion and no longer a normal iron atom....okay i just confused myself...
