I'd say it's the same reason as when you see an object far away. The closer you come to it, the bigger it becomes cause then you're able to see its actual size.

What is actually your question? The second part of your question makes no sense to me. 
I dont actually understand what you mean by "as it is near to earth". Do you mean in respect to other stars? Or do you mean when the earth comes closer to the sun on it's orbit?
