If I put black material on the top of a greenhouse, would it keep the greenhouse cool (by absorbing light energy) or would it make the greenhouse warmer (by absorbing light energy, but then giving light energy to the green house)?

That's actually a really good question. It'd make the greenhouse hotter though. The black material would absorb the light energy, but it would also work as insolation and heat the structure.
