A crystal ball with a diameter of 2r inches is being packaged for shipment. If the crystal ball is placed inside a circular cylinder with radius r inches and height h inches, how much volume will need to be filled with padding? Assume r = 6, h = 12. (The volume of a sphere with radius r is 4πr3/3, and the volume of a right circular cylinder with radius r and height h is πr 2h.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Volume of cylinder minus volume of sphere.

i couldnt get the answer im getting decimals please help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You'll get decimals if you don't keep it in terms of pi. Write out the expressions with fractions and pi and stuff, and then simplify. (You should probably leave your final answer in terms of pi, too.)

Write the first expression you got for the first step of this problem.
