48 is not a multiple of 36 because A.12 is the greatest common factor of 48 and 36 B.9 is a factor of 36 but not a factor of 48. C.48 is not a prime number D.No whole number multiplied by 36 will give a product of 48

i would go with D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why D?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it kinda explains it as the answer. you can't multiply 36 by anything to make 48, unless it is some fraction. a) 12*4=48, 12*3 = 36 b) although true, it isn't really relevent in proving c) prime numbers are numbers that can only be made by multiplying by 1 and nothing else. so this statement is true but also irrelevent.
