9. Which of the following statements is true about scientific theories? Scientific theories become scientific laws. Scientific theories are never proven. Scientific theories become hypotheses. or Scientific theories summarize patterns found in nature. some one please help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it will be the last one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Scientific Theory are ways of explaining the data obtained from Nature by using scientific fact (ie the known rules of how the world and universe work).

for anyone coming across this like I did, the answer is NOT D. it's B. Scientific theories are never proven. I just took the quiz. this is from my chemistry textbook: "Theories are never proven. Instead, they become stronger if the facts continue to support them."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plus, D is wrong. scientific theories do NOT summarize patterns in nature. that's the definition of a scientific LAW. the definition of a scientific theory is a well tested explanation for a set of observations or experimental results.
