Prove in detail with standard operations in R2 that the set {(x,2x): x is a real number} is a vector space

OpenStudy (jamesj):

So go through each axiom. Call this set L then 1. For every v and w in L, v + w in L 2. 0 in L 3. For every v in L, -v in L etc.

yeah thats what i'm doing full detail does suck though -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know if the associative property must match u+(v+w)=(u+v)+w or can i just show the property of grouping two still yields the same results?

OpenStudy (jamesj):

Just prove the associative property; it's not hard; just a couple of lines.
