An equation of a line perpendicular to the graph of y=1/2x-3, passes through the point at (5,-4)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

have have the slope of the new line, because it says it is perpendicular to y=.5x-3, and you have a point, (5,-4). the slope of the new line is the negative reciprocal of the line it is perpendicular to. so the slope would be -2. y+4=-2(x-5) point slope form
