People are happy because Gaddafi was a dictator that killed many people, He was a war criminal and now Libya can have freedom.

Because he was very sadistic and cruel. He killed a lot of people and Libya suffered a lot under his rule for almost 3 decades. Now Libya is freed from his clutches.

Ghaddafi had worked with so many other leaders and companies such as British Petroleum.
No doubt he was a criminal, but he had to be tried in ICC.
By killing Ghaddafi, lots of the secrets will remain hidden. That is why All the western leaders are happy with that.
Libyan officials are also happy, because they were criminals as well and with death of Ghaddafi, they are sure that no one is going to question them.
Freedom and Democracy? No, Libya is not free. They still have a long way to gain freedom and democracy. They did not have the right to Kill another human being - No matter how guilty he was. They ended the last regime with crime, so the next government cannot be democratic.
Of course some people are happy, because they "think" Libya is free now.
