Explain how conduction can increase the temperature of the air above Earth's surface.

convection, or conduction?

conduction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, the sun makes the surface hot, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just answer the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the earth's surface absorbs energy from sunlight, causing it's temperature to increase. Air in contact with the earth's surface causes conduction of heat from the warm surface to the cooler air at the bottom of the atmosphere. This ultimately increases the temperature of the air above the surface.

The sun's rays heat up the land easily. Land radiates the heat. The air above the land absorbs the heat and heats up. Simple terminology. o.O
