solve for x 12^x=25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use logirithems to solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand that I have to use logs, don't know how.

OpenStudy (alfie):

\[\log_ab = c \rightarrow a^c = b\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ln(12^x)=ln(25) x ln(12)=ln(25) x=ln(25)/ln(12)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12^x = 25 Take the log10 of both sides. THen you have 12 log10(x) = log10(25) Divide through by 12. x = log10(25)/log10(12) x= 1.29

Just remember that a log is just an exponent. The same rules apply. x^2/x^4 = x^(2-4) and x^2*x^4=x^(2+4) Same goes for logs.
