2x^2=15-x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so first i add x to both sides so it would be 2x^2+x=15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then divide all by 2 and that is when i get lost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x^2+x-15=0 Pr -30 sum 1 2x^2-5x+6x-15 x(2x-5)+3(2x-5) (2x-5)(x+3)=0 2x-5=0 or x+3=0 x=5/2 or x=-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Check: x=-3 2*(-3)^2=15-(-3) 2*9=15+3 True x=5/2 2*(5/2)^2=15-(5/2) 2*(25/4)=30/2-5/2 25/2=25/2
