Take one piece at a time. 4(5x+2) on its own. Basically you are multiplying 5x and 2, each by 4. So, it comes out to 20x + 8. Same with 2(x-3). You are multiplying x and "-3" by 2. So, you get 2x and "-6". You have -9x as is. Now, you gather like terms. All terms with variable "x" need to be taken together and summed up. All constants need to be summed up too. Then, you have your answer.
