why electron in stationary orbit does not radiate energy? pls explain me with proof....... why electron in stationary orbit does not radiate energy? pls explain me with proof....... @Physics
Think about this: When you are sit in front of computer are you radiating energy? No. Now try to go outside and do some exercise.. This happens with electrons too. When they are in the stationary orbit they are peacefully there but if you excite the athom with the necessary amount of energy to make the electron jump to another orbit then when the electron goes back to the stationary one he radiates energy.
Where would the energy come from? Electrons radiate energy when they are 'excited' and move up and then down energy level(s)
ok, but how i will fell my hunger if iam not eating food for more than 4hrs? the electron is not simply standing.it is revolving.according to maxwell's equation an accelerated charge must radiate energy.but keep in mind.according aufbau's principle electrons are arranged in the increasing order of energy level.therefore the 2nd stationary orbit has energy greater than 1st stationary orbit.here arises the question why an electron in the 2nd orbit should not radiate energy?if 1st orbit is considered to be the minimum energy level for non radiating.then where comes the law for stationary orbit?
there always arises a confusion at this point: if all the states of lets say, the H-atom are stationary then why the electron in the higher excited state doesn't just prefer to stay there forever and ever... the fact is that, only the ground state level is actually the true stationary state, rest all the higher energy (stationary!) states are simply not stationary enough... those are spread over a little in the energy range i.e. they have some widths defined for them (and this width is someway related to the extra complex potential term introduced in the Schrodinger equation:P )... this controversy can be explained properly only by using quantum field theory, via the vacuum fluctuation concept, there is no other way of explaining it... NOTE: aufbau principle is about filling up the energy states of multi-electron atoms... it says that for those atoms, there are few true stationary states to be filled up first than the rest (not so true) stationary states... i would like to discuss more...
