I am a biology tutor and I have this kid that does not want to learn and I can't seem to get through to him I've tried almost evary thing got any ideas.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

get a student who wants to learn. or just trick the student into thinking that they want to learn. you cannot teach one who is not willing

Find out what the student likes to do; and convert his liking to a biology subject. eg. If he likes to break things - Give him a hibiscus flower and "break" it while explaining the different parts of the flower. If he likes drain water - Show him the "things" in it using a microscope. You don't have to teach him, just guide him(your way). MANIPULATE his thoughts.

It obviously depends on the kind of biology he has to learn. I've always noticed that strange facts can help people to become interested in a subject. so maybe you could surprise him with the grat magic of biology telling him that a class of fungi can cause allucination and that was probably the real cause of salem's witch hunt. maybe you could tell him incredible guinnes records of the biology. if it is possible it would be nice to have a try with housemade experiments. maybe they'll excite him. at last, you could search some videos in the internet. some are very nice and can help with the understanding. others are amazing.
