Q1 It made both sides wake-up to the reality that the war was not going to be short and lot's of lives would be lost and it was the first major battle of the war and it also showered that the south could win in a major battle with the north(personal opinion- at the 2nd battle of bull run if they had turned Jackson lose he would have taken Washington and won the war)
Q2 - The amount of casualties at Shiloh shocked the public. Both North and South suffered over 10,000 casualties. The public had hoped for a quick bloodless war. Shiloh was one of the first battles with such massive loss of life.
Q3 - The Emancipation Proclamation helped to turn the tide in favor of the Union. Before the enforcement of the Proclamation, both Britain and France supported the Confederacy. However, after the implementation of the Proclamation of Emancipation, the scenario changed dramatically.
Q1-The first battle of manassas is improtant because it was the first major battle in the war. Q3- Lincoln's proclamation stated all slaves in Confederate states were free. Q4- That regement was the first organizied black regiment in the nothern states.
Oh and the Battle of Shilo helped bring General Grant to the public's attention.
