soybean is 16% protien,cornmeal is 8% protien.How many pounds of each should be mixed together in order to get 320lb. mixture that is 12% protien?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

soy = 320(.12-.08)/(.16-.08)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and corn is just whats left over

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I figure 12.72 . Left over from what?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i figure soy = 160 ... but thats just me. and what do you mean "left over from what"? if you have 320 pounds of stuff, and 160 of it is soy; the stuff thats left over after you remove the soy has to be corn ....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i find it curious enough to see that 16+8 = 24; and that the average of that is 12; such that they need 160 of each one to average out to 12%
