OpenStudy (calculus):

Suppose a body has mass m and velocity v. Its kinetic energy is given by K = 1/2mv^2. Assume that m = 10 and v = 25. Use differentials to estimate the increase in kinetic energy if both mass and velocity increase by 10%.

OpenStudy (agreene):

10+(10*0.1)=m2 25+(25*0.1)=v2 then plug into the equation.

OpenStudy (calculus):

do you mean 2m or just m? by doing this i will be able to find out the new values for m and v?

OpenStudy (agreene):

I was using standard notation, where what you are given are: \[m_1=10 ;v_1=25\] and you are finding \[m_2;v_2\] or the new values of m and v

OpenStudy (calculus):

Thank you!
