Okay but what about when you check your answer you have one side that has a solution with a negative and then one side with a positive. What do you do?
If only one side has a negative, you can switch the negative sign to any side. (or multiply both sides by -1 which dies the same thing for you) If both have a negative sign, they cancel out, and you get a positive on both sides. (again, multiply by -1 and you'll see)
Thank you
