how do we multiply with mixed numbers

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(2+1/3)(4+1/2) = 8 + 2/2 + 4/3 +1/6 distribute if anything

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no like with 2 2/5 \[\times\] 1/3 or 4 \[\times\] 2 3/8

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(2 + 2/5) (1/3) = 2/3 + 2/15 4(2+3/8) = 8 + 12/8

thx

OpenStudy (amistre64):

one method, prolly more used, is to change the numbers into improper fractions first and multiply across

OpenStudy (amistre64):

but you get the same thing in the end
