Mistakes in which stage of meiosis will cause nondisjunction and result in abnormal numbers of chromosomes? Mistakes in which stage of meiosis will cause nondisjunction and result in abnormal numbers of chromosomes? @Biology
This picture should be helpful: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9a/Meiosis_Overview.svg
would it then be meiosis 1 during the independent assortment in metaphase I? or would it be meiosis 2 where the sister chromatids separate? I guess that is where i am stuck.
Probably when they seperate because they could take the wrong path and cause abnormality.
where the sister chromatids separate or the homologous chromosomes? seems like either could cause malformation if there was an abnormality in the number of chromosomes
Where the sisters seperate.
makes sense, thanks for your help.
