How do you set this up to solve? The mean speed a pitcher can throw a baseball is 82mph. The standard deviation of his pitches is 4.1mph.....If the pitch was 1.7 standard deviations away from the mean, how fast was the pitch?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

std deviation = sqrt(variance) and variance = (expected speed)^2 - (mean)^2 this computation should given you new speed
