two angle are supplementary. the measure of one angle is 20 degrees less than 19 times the measure of the other. find the measure of each angle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let call angle 1 - X1, angle 2 - X2 X1 + X2 = 180 (X1 & X2 are supp.) 19X2 - 20 = X1 (angle 1 20 degree less than 19 times angle 2) solve the 2 equations by replacing X1 = 19X1 - 20 into the first equation, we have: 19X2 - 20 + X2 = 180 -> 20X2 = 200 -> X2 = 10 plug X2 = 10 into the second equation, we have: 19*10 - 20 = X1 -> X1 = 170

i am lost on how you got 20x2=200

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is 20 X2, not 20 time 2
