Can anyone give me a better word for "standing stock-still" ?? I basically want to say that the character stood still while mulling over his thoughts. just another, or a better word :P Thanks :)

You could say "The character stayed in place while mulling over his thoughts." Or
"The character was idle as he mulled over his thoughts."

"He stood frozen in place, mulling over the many thoughts running through his head."
