On a number line, the distance from zero to -7 is 7 units. A. |-7| = 7 B. |-7| = -7 C. 72 = 49 D. 0 + 7 = 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|-7| = 7 the modulus | | means the absolute value of the number

OpenStudy (alfie):

A. A distance is always positive, so we put it in abs so that we are sure it's going to be positive, even though it's calculated on negative numberz B is wrong. C is absolutely no sense. D is just not the answer, you'd have 0-7, which is -7, but it kinda invalidates my premises.
