Consider the following function. s(x) = 1/x2 Use the product or quotient rule to find the derivative.

\[\large \frac{1}{x^2}\] This can be written as \[\large x^{-2}\] Now use power rule.. Power rule is \[\large f(x) = x^{n}\] then \[\large f \prime(x) = nx^{n-1}\] So the derivative of x^-2 is \[\large -2x^{-3}\] or \[\large - \frac{2}{x^{3}}\]
