Express answers in simplest exact form. What is the area of a sector with measure of arc equal to 90° and radius equal to 1 foot? A = ? PI sq. ft.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Area of a circle = \[\pi r ^{2}\] in this case, r = 1. so the complete area is pi square feet. The arc of 90 degrees describes 1/4 of a complete circle, so the area of that sector is (Area of whole circle)/4 or, pi/4 square feet

so i put 4 in and its wrong i even multiplied 4*3.14

????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer is π 3.14 are of sector with arc equal to 90 deg = ----- or ------ = 0.785 = 0.79 sq.ft. 4 4

I thought you wanted the answer in terms of pi. which would be pi/4. If you want it in rational numbers, it's 0.7853981633974483096156608458198757210492923498437764552437....
