Perform the division. 8a2 + 2a − 3 2a − 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's supposed to be a line between the two equations

sup izanagi are you enjoying persona 4 the anime

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Factorise the numerator to (4a+3)(2a-1). The (2a-1) then cancels, leaving 4a+3, which is the equation of a straight line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you figure out (4a+3)(2a-1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guessed that one of the factors of the quadratic was (2a-1) then figured out what you have to multiply by (2a-1) to get 8a^2+2a-3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It doesn't always work like that, but you should think what the objective of the queestion actually is; it's almost like working backwards to get the answer.

(4a+3)
