A sound comes to me from somewhere and I want to know the distance of its source Is there any device or instrument which does this? Plz help me its important @MIT 6.002 Circuit…

I think instead of copying and pasting, I will give you the source site.... Pls visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_ranging

There are methods associated with stuff like that. Might be that devices that perform the necessary computations exist.

OpenStudy (radar):

Assuming that there is no other clue (visual, or other sensors located so that you could triangulate, or knowledge of the sound strength at its source) I would hazard a guess as no device exists, but if there is, it could be useful in locating sources.

you need sound sensor or detector? as per your question i think sound sensor or detector can detect sound and inform you that from where is it came? below is image link for sound detector. http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT-X0C9bkrlkKOAYYD6AU2RakZViME0LUzFg5IteNLMHZaBicG7

Without additional information, you're out of luck. If you have another ear to the sound, located a distance away, you can use triangulation. If you know the power of the source and its angular distribution, you can use the inverse square law. If you yourself were the source, and you are listening to an echo, you can use the time delay and the speed of sound. But if all you have is a single ear receiving a sound, about the source of which you know nothing, then there is no theoretical way to determine its distance.
