OpenStudy (perl):

given x = t + exp(at) , y = -t + exp (at) , find 'a' such that the parametric curve intersects x axis

OpenStudy (amistre64):

just to copy from the chatbox :) doesnt that happen when y=0?, parametric or not; the curve hits the x axis when y=0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-t + e^(at) = 0 e^at = t at = ln|t| a = ln|t|/t as far as I can tell

OpenStudy (perl):

the answer is .367 ...

OpenStudy (perl):

i dont want to give out the solution, but its an exact answer

OpenStudy (perl):

a= .367...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then what is the question? :)

OpenStudy (perl):
