Microtubles are tiny hollow tubes only about 25 nm in diameter. They help control the shape of the cell and assist with movement. Cytoplasmic extensions, such as cilia and flagella, consist of microtubules. Centrioles are found in pairs in animal cells, and are made up of microtubules into a bundle. They organise the formation of the spindle, also made of microtubules, during mitosis.
